Whimsy

There are times when I really enjoy creating something completely fun and frivolous!
I'd been cruising around and came across Waldorf dolls.
I think these softies are marvelous so I decided to make one for my own pleasure.
She's quite a bonnie lass from her magenta footies to her flowered dress and fleece shrug.

I also had some fun making mice of various sizes.
This maiden stands 5" at the tip of her pert nose,
and if she feels up to the task, can hold a mini pincushion in her outstretched arms.

Sew up some fun today!

Ever have one of those days?

You know the ones!
Like trying to get through the door first but get your head stuck, kinda day!
Yesterday was my turn at everything going wrong, or so it seemed
or should I say (sew it seamed)?
Pretty bad, I know!
I woke up feeling punky and should have taken my cue from there.
I should have known better than to attempt to quilt one of the charity quilts.
What could go wrong? It's not like it's a large quilt, just baby size.
It's not like I haven't quilted before, although you'd never know that.
Meet my best friend, Ms.Ripper!
Yes, we spent alot of time together yesterday, alot of time indeed!
We engaged in quite a bit of conversation,
alot of back and forth banter!
Let's not forget the few many choice words.

This is the reason for all my frustration!
How is it that you can be quilting along tickity-boo and then
Wham!
this crap starts happening?
I rethreaded, I replaced my bobbin, I rethreaded again, I grumbled, I growled
and then the real kick in the head!
I changed machines and thought that'll fix you, you *******!
Guess what?
Same problem!
YEP!!! I couldn't believe it!
In the end I decided to listen to my machines and walk away.
Boy Howdy,
you've got love those days.
HOPE YOUR DAY IS A GREAT ONE!
HUGS...

Pop's Pups

I made these little pups as special gifts for my 2 munchkins.
They already hold a warm place in my boys' hearts
because they are "memory pups".
The ears and underbelly are cut from shirts from
D & CJ's Pop's shirts.
The pattern was from  Bustle and Sew,  a wonderful blog that's sure to put a smile on your face.

I don't want to spoil the surprise
so this is all you get!

We be Cuddling Today Too!

Today's temp... -51C !!! Yikes!!!
I'm hoping to get my quilting done on this second snow day of this year.
Yesterday was a bit of a shambles with my oldest being up most of the night with the flu,
I was dog tired by the time 6:45am rolled around.
I got some sleep last night and I'm getting my computer(ing) finished right now so...
I'm gone!
I'll have picks up tomorrow of my accomplishments today.

Have a fabulous day.

Charity Quilts

These two quilts will be finished and dropped off at a womens' shelter in a near by city next week.
Do you donate?

Have you wondered if you could make a difference, big or small, in someone's life?
You can... just by doing!
I remember reading a blog quite some time ago about a gal who was striving to make a difference!
It didn't have to be clothes or quilts, although these things are needed and appreciated.
The shelters need the necessities as well,
things like:
toothpaste & toothbrushes
shampoo
soap
feminine products
brushes & combs
deodorant
toilet paper
paper towels
tissue
bandaids
razors & shave cream

It wouldn't take much to put a couple of extra things in your cart as your cruising through
Walmart,
use a coupon,
skip that latte for a day or two.

Shelters are filled to capacity with people needing a refuge, food, warmth, safety,
understanding and help.

All the shelters in a city 45 minutes from where we live have been filled to capacity since October!
The temperatures have recently dropped dramatically here and this will only lead to more clients.
I'm sure it's the same where you live too.
Make a difference in someone's life.

What to do, what to do???

Here's my dilemma...

I'm getting ready to put my Whirlgiggle quilt together and low & behold,
nothing that was going to work for a backing in my stash (it's pathetically minimal).
As I pondered this annoyance, it dawned on me,
that I have a couple of quilt tops that are...
less than favourites.
You know, the ones that you keep shoving to that bottom of the "to-do" pile.
The tops that simply make you muse, "what was I thinking?"
That's where this quilt top kept heading until yesterday.

It is now going to play a part in the completion of this quilt.
It solves the backing problem perfectly.
I don't have to cut up fabric that I do like
or
hang on to something that I know
I'll never finish as a quilt in itself
plus
I save a few $!
It's a win,win.
So if you find yourelf stumped as to what to back a quilt with,
check out your pile of quilt tops! You may find a solution too!!

I Hugged the Postman...

Look what came in my mail!!
I took part in Sandie's Swap
of these adorable
"QUILTIES"
(check out the button in my sidebar)

This treasure is one of  Sandie's own
can you see the lightbulb?

This black beauty is from   Jamie

This handsome fellow was crafted by Marilou
isn't the gingerbreadman cute?

My boys insist that these go on display, who am I to argue?
Thank you ladies for your creativeness,
perhaps we'll be seeing each other in Sandie's next swap!

Mini Mug Rug

I'm still practicing my leaf design and thought of something on a little bit smaller scale.
My teacup needed a new place to rest so there you have it!

I know,
I still need to keep practicing

Next up is a couple of quilts for our much anticipated  Granddaughter :)
My SIL scored some of this fabric for me from a gal in Alberta that had to clear out her stash!

It's going to be perfect!

How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice, Practice, Practice of course!!
This is my very first attempt at this month's challenge with

I definitely need more time with my machine but all in all I don't think it's that bad.

This is a fun quilting design and goes along fairly quick.
Now back to my trusty machine and more
practice, practice, practice!!!!

More Than a Memory and a Giggle

This quilt, this Memory Quilt, was a gift to my hubby this Christmas.
I had quite a time gettting started,
it's made with shirts and trousers from my dear FIL,
but once I did it came together quickly.

My next project is this Whirlygiggle design from
Look for the design in her sidebar.
I just need to sew this last row of blocks on, add the sashing
pull a backing out of my stash and
quilt!
Since I'm partaking in the SewCalGal's FMQ challenge (up in my sidebar)
I can't wait to quilt this one with some new ideas and techniques.
