Scrap Purge Goodies

For a while now I've been meaning to sew up some bowl coasters so it would be easier
for all of us to hold onto a steaming bowl of soup or stew.
These are the bowl coasters I made for the boys.
They were pretty quick to finish and I should have done this eons ago!
I used a piece of insulbrite in between the fabric
and they got the thumbs up award.
My granddaughter will be able to tuck her dolly in with this little scrappy quilt.
I'll whip up a pillow to go with it.

I love the roses on the back and the binding is scrappy too!

October NewFOs

*
*
October saw a flurry of activity in more ways than one!
*
Not only did this month find me stitching up BLOG HOP blocks.
*

*
It's the 31st and I'm going to be trying to get the bindings on my 4 blocks today!
*
*
But my hubster gave me a one week heads up that we were taking a flying trip to Alberta
to see my Dad and our Grandkids!
Well I certainly wasn't going empty handed...sew
I sewed and stitched and growled and cursed, I posted about my dilemma and some of the
best of the best blogging buddies came to my rescue to get the quilting completed on 2 quilts.

Granddaughter's flimsy

Here's the OTHER  flurry for October (this is still on the ground and there's more falling).
I'm sure hubster is growling while he's clearing snow and building a hill for the kids!
*
*
I wonder what Bullet is thinking about the snow?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
BE SAFE!!

Free Motion or Straight Lines?

What is your favourite type of quilting?

Do you like the freedom of Free Motion or are you more of a straight lines kinda quilter?
Usually I quilt with fm in mind but  right now I'm stepping out of my comfort zone with straight lines in a chevron design  on my son's quilt. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

For a great tutorial on Free Motion check out AmandaJean at Crazy Mom Quilts .
She was my "go to" gal for help with this technique!!

I named this quilt "Red Poppies" for a little sweetie.

Another WIP

This one has been in the works for a good year if not more!
My motivation to complete this is that the cold weather will soon be knocking on our door.
This quilt is going to be a donation to a local woman's shelter.
I'll post a pic when it's finished.
