For the last few weeks now, I've found that my motivation has gone on vacation.
It is taking all that I can pull out of me to finish the simplest of projects.
*
*
I just can't seem to locate "IT"! no matter where I look.
Perhaps it is the season. Perhaps it's just me.
*
*
This is the first time in days that I've even looked at blogger.
Instead of being pumped about starting new projects that I'm committed to for the month,
I have a cloud of grey daunting over me and now I'm stressing about the sewing I need
to complete for up coming hop, PIF, swap, giveaway and BOM ( x 3).
*
I think I need to throw the anchor overboard, regroup and reshuffle priorities.
For the moment though I guess I'd best get nose to the grindstone.

Thanks for the ear.

Hey Carolyn, don't worry about the PIF, after all it says anytime in 365 days so take a break, at least for that, the hop you better do, if you miss then you get on the naughty list and they don't let you back on.
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing you...I know exactly how you are feeling....I'm in the same frame of mind. I've made so many commitments I'm now at the overwhelmed stage. I'm hoping to get in some happy stitching today...I know I will be spending less time on the compter...limiting it to 23 minutes, just like Mme Samm! Happy stitching, Pauline
ReplyDeleteI think it is our never-ending winter and maybe you've just been on overload and your body/mind decided you needed a break - don't sweat it! I know you'll be back and you know it too. Just now, prioritize and do what has to be done and then sit back and enjoy life for awhile. ♥
ReplyDeleteI think we've all felt this way and there's no magic potion to get the zip back in our lives, but sometimes stepping back and saying "NO" once in a while helps us get back on track. Don't look so hard for "it" and you'll find it eventually. The 23 minute rule is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI always get like that when I overwhelm myself by committing to too many projects. Cut back and have more fun is my advice. And remember sewing is supposed to be enjoyed, not stressful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the above comments. This is our hobby and is supposed to be a way we enjoy ourselves but sometimes we overstretch ourselves. Complete what you have to do but otherwise take a break. Time out works wonders for creativity and pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI get over those times when I go look at fabrics that are "coming soon" and look at new patterns. I always find something that "gets me going". I'm having this with my writing job...I've struggled all morning to work on an assignment that I'm behind on...25 units and I only have finished 3 and it's almost noon...sigh. Good luck to both of us!

This has happened to me - more than once. Do you have some type of obligation hanging over you that is sewing but not creative i.e. hemming pants. For me it was these obligations that was killing my creativity. I will never be able to sew for a living because making stuff for others really kills my creativity. It could also be that it is March. I find March hard because that when it snows the most in my city but everywhere else people are experiencing spring. Stick with it. You'll be able to get through this - have faith.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry..your mojo will return and the you will be burning up the stitches. Sometime we just need to sit.relax.regroup. Glad to see you post as I have missed you!
ReplyDeleteSometime we just have to take a break, even from the things we love! Enjoy time with your family and friends...'it" is bound to return, sooner or later!
ReplyDeleteI have a sign in my sewing room for just this type of problem. It says "Do The Next Thing." Sometimes the next thing is something very simple, like winding bobbins or ironing some yardage. Once I get going on these simple tasks, I can often move up to basting a quilt or putting on a binding. It may not be anything creative but it is going in the right direction!
